Equine

Horses - whether for racing, trotting, sports or leisure - play a significant role in both the economy and community of Beaudesert Shire.

Beaudesert Shire is ideally situated close to all major Soth East Queensland racetracks, polo, show-jumping and equestrian facilities; only an hour from the airports at Brisbane and the Gold Coast and two hours away from regional centres like Toowoomba, Warwick and Northern NSW.

Vast areas of land are available, combining flats and softly undulating hills to produce the bone and muscle so necessary in young horses. The Shire is accustomed to experiencing the perfect weather - mild winters and warms summer days - with average temperatures between 12C - 27C, ideal for growing young horses.

The Beaudesert Country and Horse Festival
This is the signature event of this Shire in the centre of Queensland's equine region. From the Stockmans Challenge through to the Parade of 1000 Hooves, the festival is an event for local and visitors to celebrate the region's heritage. Date: 8 - 17 June 2007. For more information please call Nancy Moss on 07 5541 4355

The Elysian International Showjumping Classic
The class and style of European Showjumping come to Australia at the Elysian Showjumping Classic held over two weekends, 20 - 22 July & 27 - 29 July 2007 at the stunning polo property Elysian Fields, situated near Canungra. The event is Australia's richest showjump and boasts massive prize money.

Country Racing
A day at the Beaudesert Races is the ultimate country racing experience. The wholesome old fashioned picnic race-day comes alive at the historic Beaudesert Race Course

In the centre of what has become a famous equine spelling area, race horses take to the Beaudesert track several times a year for a country race meeting that brings home the sights and smells of grass roots racing.

With around seven race meetings a year, featuring the ANZAC Day Race meeeting, Melbourne Cup Day and Beaudesert Cup Day, it is a lively and bustling part of the district with an unmatched past. For more information please call 0419 791 597.
