Mount Barney National Park

Explore the Mt Barney region and you will discover a hidden valley of luxury accommodation and adventure activies. You may want to relax in the warmth of a friendly farm stay or cool down by one of the tranquil cabins or campsites. Hike through rugged mountain trails or discover Mt Barney on a rock climbing or abseiling adventure for a truly wild country encounter. The park has some of south-east Queensland's most spectacular sheer ridges that rise to meet tall lonley peaks. The eastern face is a sheer cliff of almost 300m, offering a mighty challenge for Queensland's best rock climbers.

The rugged peaks are the remains of the ancient Focal Peak Shield Volcano which erupted 24 million years ago. Mount Barney is the second highest peak in south-east Queensland.

From Brisbane via Rathdowney

Follow the Mt Lindesay Highway through Beaudesert to Rathdowney. One kilometre after Rathdowney, turn right onto the Boonah-Rathdowney Road and travel 8km to the Barney-View-Upper Logan Road turn off. After turning left, follow the signs to either Lower Portals or Yellow Pinch (base of Mt Barney)
